What is a Payment Gateway ?
A Payment Gateway is a service that automates the payment transaction between the customer and your eCommerce website. Once a customer has placed their required products/services in your virtual shopping cart, payment is made via the Payment Gateway connecting your website to the acquirer to facilitate the debit/credit card payment. This is the virtual equivalent of a card payment machine.

This is a Pence Per Transaction fee that is applied by the acquirer to each payment made through the payment gateway.

This is a fee that is a percentage of each transaction that is processed through the gateway. This can be as low as 0.35% however PayPal and Stripe can be as much as 1.75%

The Gateway Rental fee is simply a monthly amount charged by the acquirer to allow you to use the payment gateway through your website.
